AISWA was established in 1962 as a non-profit organisation to support, represent and promote the interests of Independent Schools. AISWA's constituent members include over one hundred and fifty five Independent Schools including those of two Independent School systems.

This department is responsible for administering the public education system in Western Australia.
Catholic Education Office (CEOWA)
Catholic Education is the state’s second largest education sector, educating some 18% of all school-aged children in Western Australia (72,000 students in 159 schools and colleges cross the state)
over 5,500 teaching and over 3,500 non-teaching staff.

School Curriculum and Standards Authority
The School Curriculum and Standards Authority is an independent statutory authority that is responsible to the Minister for Education. It is responsible for:
- setting standards of student achievement and for the assessment and certification of student achievement according to those standards
- developing an outline of curriculum and assessment in schools that, taking account of the needs of students, sets out the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes that students are expected to acquire and guidelines for the assessment of student achievement
- developing and accrediting courses for schools
Teacher Standards
The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers is a public statement of what constitutes teacher quality. The Standards define the work of teachers and make explicit the elements of high-quality, effective teaching in 21st-century schools, which result in improved educational outcomes for students.
The Teacher Registration Board (WA) is the body responsible for registration of teachers in Western Australia. It replaces the Western Australian College of Teaching (WACOT).
