Winner of the Jean Rhodes Memorial Award, 2005
 
 

In 2005 the Jean Rhodes Award was presented to Greg Lindorff, Head of Library at Christ Church Grammar School.

When news reached the staff of Christ Church Grammar School that the Jean Rhodes Memorial Award 2005 had been presented to Greg Lindorff, they displayed their collective appreciation. His teaching colleagues applauded his adventurous spirit and the many positive initiatives he has wrought in line with academic advancement in his role of Senior Teacher Librarian at the School.

satisfaction in both the small and more significant achievements that take place daily and which help to connect the Collaborative Learning Centre Library to the School and the wider school community.

The Nomination form provided a list of criteria against which the nominator could measure the candidate’s worth. The third of these prompts will serve as one example of Greg’s excellence in Teacher Librarianship.

Improved communication within the school community

The whole problem of CCGS Teacher Librarians trying to entice subject teachers to plan cooperatively and to collaborate in shared learning and teaching ventures has almost become a thing of the past. A new era is dawning! Not entirely single-handed but with vocal support and encouragement from several interested parties, Greg, having invested a lot of time and thought to the project, has begun the process of changing a body of collective thinking from the negative to the positive.

On Greg’s behalf, I take pleasure in relating that his efforts, in a comparatively short space of time, have achieved very strong prospects of turning a dull and diminishing situation into a bright and bustling whole of school approach to collaborative learning and teaching across the curriculum.
