Len Unsworth |
|
| Len Unsworth is
a Professor in English and Literacies Education at the University
of New England. He was a classroom teacher in Queensland before
moving into teacher education at the University of West Sydney,
and then the University of Sydney prior to taking up his present
position.
As well as an extensive number of journal articles, Professor
Unsworth has published several books including Literacy
learning and teaching (Macmillan, 1993), Researching
language in schools and communities (Contnuum, 2000)
and Teaching multiliteracies across the curriculum
(Open University press, 2001). His most recent books are:
E-literature for children and classroom literacy learning
(Routledge, 2006) and (with Angela Thomson, Alyson Simpson,
and Jenny Asha) Teaching children's literature with Information
and Communications Technologies (McGraw-Hill/Open University
Press, 2005). In 2004 Professor Unsworth was awarded a Citation
of Merit for research by the Australian Literacy Educators'
Association.

Tara Brabazon
|
|
| Tara Brabazon is
an Associate Professor in the School of Media, Communication
and Culture, Murdoch University, Western Australia. She holds
a PhD and degrees in history, literature and communication,
internet studies, education, and cultural studies. She has
won the Australian National Teaching Award for Humanities
(in 1998), and several other university awards in the areas
of postgraduate supervision, disability, and cultural studies.
In 1992 and 2002, Tara was nominated and short listed for
the Western Australian Citizen of the Year. She was also nominated
for the 2005 Australian of the Year and was a finalist for
this Award. Tara is the Director of the Popular Culture Collective.
The PCC is a community of scholars, musicians, and sound and
vision practitioners who aim to build creative industries
initiatives and further critical thinking about popular culture.
Tara has been widely published and her current research is
broad ranging, including cultural diversity, popular cultural
studies, internet studies and information management, feminism
and men's studies, popular music and sport.
Her undergraduate courses explore topics ranging from multiculturalism
to Generation X, from lipstick feminism (red of course) to
inscriptions of blackness, from fashion to tourism and Star
Trek to magazine readerships and youth culture. These
courses develop skills in analysis, research, writing and,
most importantly, critical thinking.
Tara has published six books: Tracking the Jack, Ladies who
Lunge, Digital
Hemlock, Liverpool of the South Seas, From Revolution to Revelation
and

Stephen Cole is the founder and managing director
of Ebooks Corporation.
Based in Claremont, Ebooks Corporation is a public company that
specialised in the production and distribution of digital books
since 1997. The company has offices in Australia, the US and
the UK, and partnerships with 327 publishers, including all
of the world's largest trade, professional and scholarly publishers.
The company has a multi-channel market strategy, distributing
its collection of 48,000 titles to consumers via the retail
portal, eBooks.com, and to academic and research institutions
via EBL: The EBook Library. Ebooks Corporation also provides
technology services to global book publishers and retailers.
Stephen's formal training is in philosophy, but he has been
involved in the book industry most of his working life. He
and his wife Trudy founded The Lane Bookshop in Claremont
in 1980. |

Maryann Ballantyne
Maryann Ballantyne has worked in the publishing industry
for over 20 years. She began her publishing career at Penguin
Books in 1984 and then went on to work for Five Mile Press
and William Heinemann Australia. In 1996, Maryann and her
partner began Black
Dog Books, an independent company packaging individual
titles and series for an international market. Since 2000,
Black Dog has been publishing quality books that children
want to read under the Black Dog Books imprint. |
